Job purpose
The Oracle Developer is responsible for supporting the Global Market Operations business within the Bank. This includes the resolution of issues logged by the business, assisting the business in performing various functions as well as testing any changes, enhancements or customizations madeto the application. There will be continuous interaction with the business andit is critical that this individual have a keen interest in the business, inorder to consistently come up with solutions to business challenges andrequirements.
Key responsibilities
- Understanding the business requirements and being able to translate & develop these into a workable solution whichmeets the business requirements.
- Day to day support of the business and resolution of any incidents.
- Development/maintenance of existing applications
- Provide technical leadership in the team.
- Liaise with the Business to clarify the functional requirements.
- Document the technical design specification asper the deliverables stipulated by the SDLC
- Provide technical assistance to peers/subordinates as needed.
- Optimised & quality code to ensure no system degradation
- Ensures source code management practices are adhered to within the team.
- When on call, provide timely response and resolution of emergency production questions, issues and defects
- Anticipate users future needs when architecting solutions
- Adhere to the banks change management processes
- Uses standard system methods in the development,enhancement, and maintenance of information technology systems.
- Assist in ensuring there are no logical access issues in theapplications
- Share knowledge and have eagerness to learn
- Work with Project teams to ensure that solutionsare migrated to the production environment in a controlled manner with appropriate knowledge transfer undertaken
Internal and externalrelationships
- Work closely with FX, Commodities and local Bonds business, globally
- Liaise with up and downstream system representatives, globally
Competencies Required
Qualifications
- Relevant degree would be a recommendation.
- Recognized IT Developer certification would be advantageous.
- Formal Oracle qualification would be advantageous
- Strong exposure to Investment Banking

- Thorough knowledge of system development methodsused for the development of new systems and enhancements to existing information systems.
Experience
- At least5 - 7 years in IT industry, with specific Oracle and Oracle Forms development exposure as well as ORACLE in a Unix environment.
- At least 1-2 years in technical lead capacity,will be beneficial
- Banking/financial systems experience
