Creamer Media’s Mission

The mission of Creamer Media is to provide accurate and timely information about economic developments, including in-depth reporting on industrial and mining project developments and on the policies and personalities shaping the real economy. Creamer Media’s reportage is mainly based on South African developments, but increasingly correspondents are being included from other parts of Africa and the rest of the world.

Both our news magazine and online formats provide a unique forum where readers can find news and comment critical to business success in an increasingly competitive knowledge-based global economy.

After nearly 30 years of business-to-business publishing Engineering News and Mining Weekly have earned wide respect for consistently providing South African businesses with information which opens doors to new business opportunities, allows companies to showcase their products, services and branding, and keep all private and public sector participants in the economy at the cutting edge of the constant evolution of the South African and global business environment.

In order to advance Mining Weekly’s objective of positioning itself as a leading global provider of mining news, full-time correspondents have been appointed in Toronto, Canada, and in Perth, Australia.

The online editions of Engineering News Online and MiningWeekly.com, enable local and international businesses to communicate their products and services over the worldwide web. The websites have undergone a design transformation, aimed at creating a platform for international news flow as well as for new multimedia features that include audio clips, video clips and a weekly TV-like magazine show, Creamer Media’s Real Economy Report.

Creamer Media also publishes Polity under the slogan of ‘deepening democracy through access to information’. Polity to be found on the internet at www.polity.org.za provides free access to South African legislation, as well as official speeches and important policy documents. High -level video interviews with South African opinions makers and analysts are also published on Polity.

The online research tool, Research Channel Africa, provides intelligence on industry and mining in South Africa. Subscribers to Research Channel Africa are able to conduct instant searches through the full Creamer Media news archive, as well as access detailed current reports on industrial and mining projects and sectors.

Jobs Portal

Recognising that its multimedia capabilities and extensive reach offered the ideal opportunity to bring together job seekers and companies requiring skills, Creamer Media has entered into a partnership with South African Job Portal and Online Recruitment Technology Provider, Jobs.co.za.

“One of the proven terrains of Internet functionality is on the jobs side, with many people using it to advertise and search for jobs,” says Creamer Media CEO Kenneth Creamer.

“Over the years we have developed a sophisticated Internet strategy for supplying the most up-to-date news and information. We saw the gap to include jobs information in our offering and believe it will serve as a real value-add for both readers and advertisers,” says Creamer. “With the launch of the jobs portal, we can now support the daily news service with all the latest jobs on offer.”

Job adverts will be featured across three channels, namely selected group print publications, websites and email.

“Readers will be able to see what jobs are available via both the magazine and online versions of Mining Weekly and Engineering News, the Polity website and our free daily email newsletter,” says Creamer.

The jobs profiled will predominantly be high-end positions within the engineering, mining and industrial sectors, but will also extend to skills required by the public service, legal fraternity, academia, government and non-governmental organisations.

The portal will feature a ‘Who’s hiring?’ section, where those companies which constantly require skills will be able to list vacancies on an ongoing basis for a flat rate.

And because of the multimedia nature of the product, it is possible to advertise positions almost immediately on the website and daily email newsletter, supplemented by the subsequent print version.

The launch of the jobs portal means that Creamer Media’s many media channels are the place to visit every day in order to keep up to date with the latest news developments as well as job opportunities,” says Creamer.
